Let’s talk self tanner! I have spent the last 10 plus years on the hunt for the BEST self tanner for this girl who A. gets VERY white in the Winter & B. no longer sun bathes in avoidance of wrinkles and skin damage. Whose with me!? I have always loved being tan (who doesn’t!?) and have been testing out new self tanners skin I was in high school and throwing in Jergen’s self tanner in the grocery cart with my parents hoping they wouldn’t notice. Update: they definitely noticed. That led into my college days of venturing into the mousse self tanners and mistakenly doing them drunk after a party only to find the damage that I did in the morning and then scrambling to wear a long sleeve ANYTHING to class so people wouldn’t notice the streaks all over my body as a result. So here I am 10 years later, not drunk self tanning & have gone through many trial and errors of finding the best self tanners on the market and this is what I’ve come up with:
Tan Luxe The Gradual – This is one of my OG favorite tanning brands & one I will probably never stop purchasing. I love this gradual build tanning lotion because of the color it provides and the oil based texture. It isn’t thick and difficult to rub in, quite literally the opposite! It has a running texture that makes it feel almost oil based which makes it easier to rub in and quick drying.
Tan Luxe The Face – Another product that I have been using for awhile and vet 100%! I usually put a couple drops in my moisturizer at night and wake up looking like I just spent a day on the beach minus the sun burn and sun damage!
Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam – This is my ride or die self tanning foam & believe me I’ve tried them all! St. Tropez, Loving Tan, Tanceuticals, Vita Liberata, do you get the picture!? The main reason I love this self tanner is because of the color! Unlike Loving Tan & some other tanners this foam has an olive based color NOT RED. I don’t like red based undertone tanners they do no look great on my skin! I have a neutral fair undertoned skin but when I tan in the sun I become very olive. So if you have a similar color tone as me, this is the self tanner for you!
Lux Unfiltered Gradual Self Tanning Cream – Another gradual self tanner lotion that I LOVE. Unlike the Tan Luxe gradual lotion this one is thicker and has a much more hydrating feel which I really enjoy for the dry months of Arizona. The color of this tan is also olive based. What I love most about this self tanner is the way it fades. It doesn’t get patchy and almost just disappears after you stop reapplying. This product is great to use after the Bondi Sands self tanning foam to keep a good tan going & hydrating your skin along the way.
Lux Unfiltered Bronzing Face Drops – Another face tanning product that I enjoy and use on the daily. My only con about this product is that I don’t think it is as long lasting at the Tan Luxe product but none the less a wonder face tanning product overall.
Happy Tanning! – Courtney
